Rivers United's Oscar Ozornwanfor has been named captain of the NPFL Youth League All-Stars team, leading a contingent of five players from the Pride of Rivers to the two-week development camp in Abuja. This prestigious appointment is a testament to Ozornwanfor's outstanding performance, having won the Most Valuable Player award in the NPFL U-17 Youth League and the Youth Player award in the 2023/2024 NPFL season.
Ozornwanfor is joined by Seiyefa Jackson, the tournament's highest goal scorer, who continued his impressive form with a hat-trick in training on Wednesday under the supervision of top Nigerian Coaches including Coach Ken Chukwu, who led Rivers United's youth team to the title.
The 30-man team, comprising players from various NPFL clubs, is undergoing intensive training at the camp, which opened on July 21 and will conclude on August 3. The team's hard work will be put to the test in their first team match on Thursday at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch in Abuja. Following the camp, the team is scheduled to travel to Spain for further training, providing valuable exposure for the young players.
The NPFL Youth League All-Stars camp is a fantastic opportunity for these young players to develop their skills and gain experience, and we are excited to see their progress.
