Nigerian champions Rangers International and runners-up Remo Stars will have to navigate the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League, despite their impressive performances in the domestic league. The duo will join other teams in the initial stage of the competition, as the road to glory begins.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) released a list of teams exempt from the preliminary round, and notably, Rangers and Remo Stars were absent from the list. The exempted teams include heavyweights Al Ahly (Egypt), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), ES Tunis, TP Mazembe (DR Congo), and Petro De Luanda (Angola).
The stage is now set for the draw, which will take place on Thursday in Cairo, Egypt. The fate of Rangers and Remo Stars will be revealed, as they await their opponents in the preliminary round.
