Rivers United Defeat Willbros FC 3–0 to Retain Rivers State FA Cup Title

Rivers United successfully defended their Rivers State FA Cup crown with a commanding 3–0 victory over Willbros FC at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday, capping off a dominant campaign in style.
The final began as a tightly contested affair, with both sides struggling to break the deadlock in the first half. Despite a few promising moments, neither team could find the cutting edge, and the match went into the break goalless.
Rivers United returned with greater urgency after halftime, and their persistence paid off in the 71st minute when Chinedu Sunday opened the scoring. The forward reacted quickest in the box to give his side a deserved lead and shift the momentum firmly in Rivers United’s favour.
As the match approached its conclusion, Wisdom Samuel doubled the advantage right on the stroke of the 90th minute, effectively sealing the victory.
Moments later, in added time, Handsome Surveyor put the result beyond doubt, netting his fourth goal in three consecutive matches in the competition to complete an emphatic 3–0 triumph and secure the title once again for Rivers United.

Earlier in the day, Rivers Angels also delivered a dominant performance in the women’s final, thrashing Osklean Football Academy 4–0 to retain their own Rivers State FA Cup title.

Following their victories, Rivers United and Rivers Angels, alongside runners-up Willbros FC and Osklean Football Academy, will go on to represent Rivers State in the upcoming President Federation Cup in both the men’s and women’s categories.
