Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, Rewards NPFL U-17 Youth League Champions Rivers United with N30 Million

Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, has rewarded the NPFL U-17 Youth League Champions, Rivers United, with a cash prize of N30 million. This gesture is in recognition of the team's outstanding performance and achievement in the tournament.

Governor Fubara presented the cash prize to the team during a ceremony at the Government House in Port Harcourt. He congratulated the players and coaches on their well-deserved victory, praising their hard work and dedication to the sport.
Earlier, the Honourable Commissioner for Sports, Barrister Chris Green, had listed out the honours won by the Under 17 side. Seiyefa Jackson won the highest goal scorer award, while Oscar Ozornwanfor emerged as the best player in the tournament.

In addition to Rivers United, Governor Fubara also rewarded other sports teams and athletes who excelled in their respective competitions. These include:

- Rivers Angels (N25 million) for their impressive performance in the Nigeria Women's Football League
- Rivers Hoopers Basketball (N25 million) for their outstanding achievement in the Nigeria Premier Basketball League
- Beach Volleyball team (N10 million) for their victory in the National Beach Volleyball Championship
- Hockey team (N10 million) for their triumph in the National Hockey Championship
- Table Tennis team (N5 million)
- Judo team (N3 million)
- Chess team (N5 million)
- Volleyball team (N10 million)
- Paralympics team (N10 million)
- Cycling team (N5 million)
- Supporters Club (N20 million)
- Individual trophy winners (N2.5 million each).

The Governor's gesture is a testament to his administration's commitment to supporting sports development in Rivers State. The cash prizes are expected to motivate the teams and athletes to continue striving for excellence in their future endeavors.
