As the highly anticipated Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU) Ighelle Urhobo Youth Football Competition, tagged Ighelle Cup 2024, draws near, renowned philanthropist and football enthusiast, Mr. Samson Ikrechero, has donated a set of jerseys to Ewu Kingdom Team. This generous gesture is a testament to his unwavering support for youth development through football.
Mr. Ikrechero, elder brother to Coach Onome Ikrechero, Chairman of Ughelli North Football Council, hails from a family revered for their passion for football across Nigeria. A proud alumnus of Government College Ughelli and Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Samson has consistently demonstrated his commitment to empowering young talents.
"I believe in the potential of our youths, and football is a powerful tool for their development," Mr. Ikrechero stated. "This donation is just the beginning; I plan to support Ewu Kingdom Team throughout the tournament."
The Ighelle Cup 2024 will feature 24 Urhobo kingdoms competing in a knockout format. Ewu Kingdom FC will face Effurun Otor Kingdom in the opening match on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 3 pm at the Ogor Technical College Pitch.
