Rivers State Football Referee Council Set for 2026 Annual Seminar and Fitness Test


PORT HARCOURT, Rivers State – The Rivers State Football Referee Council will hold its 2026 Annual Seminar and Fitness Test to equip match officials with updated knowledge of the game, Sports Concave Media can report.

The event is scheduled for Friday, 31st July 2026 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Omagwa, Rivers State. Proceedings will commence at 7:00am prompt.
This year’s seminar will focus on the theme: “New Amendments of the FIFA Laws.” According to the organizers, the session is designed to keep referees abreast of recent changes to the Laws of the Game and to ensure uniform application across competitions in the state.
Key highlights of the program include a mandatory medical check-up before the fitness race, a pass mark of 12 laps, and a free fitness test for all registered referees in the state.
Speaking ahead of the exercise, the Chairman of the Rivers State Football Referee Council, Comrade Charles Dennis Dima, emphasized the importance of full participation.

“Attendance is compulsory as it forms part of the day’s program,” Comrade Dima stated. “This seminar and fitness test are critical to maintaining the standard and professionalism of officiating in Rivers State. We urge all referees to be punctual and come prepared.”
He also noted that the event is open to members of the general public.

The Council expects a large turnout of referees from across the state as it continues its drive to raise the standard of officiating in line with FIFA and NFF guidelines.
