PORT HARCOURT — The Nigerian Army will on Monday confer the Nigerian Army Award for Outstanding Service, NAOSCM, on Chief Ikenna Okafor, Chairman of Keves Global Leasing Limited, in recognition of his contributions to national development and community support.
The investiture ceremony is scheduled to hold at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt, from 8:00am to 2:00pm.
According to Sports Concave Media, Chief Okafor will be decorated by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.
The NAOSCM is one of the Army’s highest civilian honours. It is awarded to individuals and organizations that have demonstrated exceptional service, partnership, and support to the Nigerian Army and to national security objectives.
Chief Okafor is widely recognized for his impact on sports development in Rivers State. He is the sponsor of the Rivers State FA/Keves Global Football Competition and a major supporter of several sporting tournaments across the state.
Beyond sports, he is also noted as a philanthropist. His interventions cut across education, youth empowerment, and various community development initiatives.
The event will feature a parade, goodwill messages, and remarks from senior military officers and other dignitaries. Guests expected include traditional rulers, government officials, heads of security agencies, and leaders from the business and civil society sectors.
Military authorities said the award is also aimed at strengthening civil-military relations and fostering greater collaboration between the Army and citizens in the promotion of peace and stability.
