The Progressive Club Owners in the Nationwide League One (NLO) have congratulated newly appointed Golden Eaglets head coach, Eboboritse Uwejamomere, following his appointment by the Nigeria Football Federation.
In an open letter addressed to the coach and his technical crew, the group expressed confidence in the newly constituted team while emphasizing the urgent need to rebuild Nigeria’s Under-17 national side after what they described as a decline in recent performances.
The club owners noted that the Golden Eaglets, historically regarded as one of the most successful youth national teams in world football, must return to competing at the highest level after falling below expectations in recent international outings.
According to the statement, the technical crew was urged to abandon the traditional scouting system and instead focus heavily on players currently participating in the ongoing Nationwide League One competition across the country.
The Progressive Club Owners argued that many academy players lack exposure to consistent competitive football, making it difficult for them to cope with the pressures of continental and global tournaments.
They maintained that NLO players, who regularly compete in demanding league fixtures, possess the mental toughness, resilience, and physical intensity required to succeed at the international level.
“We strongly urge you to utilize the window of the ongoing Nationwide League One tournament to source raw, battle-hardened talent,” the statement read.
The group further pledged full support for the rebuilding process of the cadet national team, revealing its readiness to sponsor the Golden Eaglets technical crew on scouting trips across the country.
“We are prepared to completely sponsor you and your entire technical team to travel anywhere across the country you wish to scout these league players,” the statement added.
The Progressive Club Owners concluded by urging the coaching crew to take advantage of the NLO platform in a bid to restore the glory of the Golden Eaglets and reposition the team among the elite in world youth football.
